Tayshaun Prince wasn't just a great UK player. He doubled as one of the best to interview. His ability to understand the game and what was happening was so much better than most.
But, the former UK star had something happen to him he never planned, and he one who believes in setting goals.
"You are in a loss for words for something like this," says Prince.
"As you set goals for yourself in life, obviously goals of making it to the NBA. You set individual goals like being the player of the year and things like that. You don't really set goals for being in a Hall of Fame. That's just a different name in itself."
Tubby Smith was honored to be asked to introduce his former star. Prince, always classy, was just as honored that Tubby wanted to do it.
"He's one of the classiest people, not just players, but classiest people that I think Kentucky has ever seen" says the former UK Coach.
Billy Ray Lickert, an All-American who played for UK in the late 1950's and early 60's was on cloud nine.
"For a kid who grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, right across the street from the University of Kentucky, I mean, this is my dream," says Billy Ray.
"I mean it was my dream to be a Kentucky Wildcat."
"I saw the Fabulous Five playing in Alumni Gym. Got thrown out of Alumni Gym by Coach Rupp. So, to be now inducted in the Hall Of Fame is something special for me."
The UK Athletics Hall Of fame also added Mike Casey (basketball), Steve Flesch (golf), Nancy Napolski Johnson (rifle) and Valerie McGovern Young (cross country, track and field).
