Max Smith looked like a seasoned vet against Kent State. OK, so it was Kent State, but he still threw for 354 yards and four touchdowns. He looked like the real deal, and that's exactly what he expected.
"No, I haven't surprised myself. I've expected this out of myself. I expect even more, I can't settle for this. I keep trying to push myself and get better each week," said Smith.
Smith expected this offense would be a lot better. He saw signs of it in the spring, more in the summer, and by this fall things really started clicking.
"Everything's going better. We're catching it better, we're throwing it better, we're running it better and blocking it better. Those are the big things that coach talks about and we're doing those things. That's the big key to our success so far."
