Kentucky won't be opening up it's season against a cupcake, and they might have to do it without two of their guards.

Point guard Ryan Harrow was held out of practice, suffering from flu-like symptoms. Julius Mays might still not be ready to go after hurting his knee in the Transy game. There's a chance both will play, but if they don't, Coach Cal has a backup plan.

Of course you would see Archie Goodwin at the point some, but it may mean minutes for Jarrod Polson. The former West Jessamine star played well in the Blue-White scrimmage, and Cal likes his toughness. He says he's not worried if Polson is in the game.

"We're comfortable as a staff if he's got to go in and play minutes, play significant minutes. We're fine," said Calipari.

Polson has played with poise when he's gotten his chance in the exhibition games. Cal says Polson believes he's ready, really ready, to have his number called.

"He's not going to be the guy trying to get 30 points, but he's got some size with him, he's got some toughness with him. He'll make open shots. I think he's dying for an opportunity which is what you want from a player," Calipari said.
