The Lexington Herald-Leader announced it's Sportsman Of The Year award Thursday night, and the winner shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. After all, he won everything else.
It's Anthony Davis. The MVP of the Final Four, national player of the year, SEC male athlete of the year, the number one pick in the NBA draft, you name it. Now Davis has this to go along with it. The New Orleans center sent a videotaped message to air at the ceremony.
John Calipari finished second in the voting. Rounding out the top five were all Louisville ties, Teddy Bridgewater at number three, Charlie Strong at four and athletic director Tom Jurich at five.
A record 124 media members voted this year, each person voting for their top 10. Davis garnered 72 first-place and 21 second-place votes.
