The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees approved a plan to spend $6.25 million on new video scoreboards and a sound system at Commonwealth Stadium.
The project, approved Tuesday, will be paid for entirely with private funds, rather than funded in part with a loan from UK as was proposed earlier.
According to the Herald-Leader, trustee James Stuckert said, "I trust the Athletic Department not to do something stupid."
Upgrades at Commonwealth Stadium have been something fans and the football program have been hoping for for years.
