The Cats were sloppy coming out of the gate with 3 quick turnovers, but they made three of their first four shots and take an 8-6 lead thanks to a 15 footer by Kyle Wiltjer who came off the bench.

UK up 12-10 with 10:31 on the clock. Their defense was terrific holding Alabama to 4-of-14 shooting (28.6 percent) and Noel already has three blocks.

Alex Poythress was aggressive grabbing four quick rebounds, but he picked up his second foul with 10:17 to go in the half and had to sit.

The Cats were driving the ball on Alabama. Kyle with a wonderful move with his left hand giving UK a 14-12 lead.

After Mays hits one from downtown to make it 21-14.

Kyle makes one of his best plays ever. First on defense he makes the steal with his left hand, then he splits the defense and lays it in. UK goes up 25-17.

Jarrod Polson did a great job running the point giving Ryan Harrow a break. Alabama tried to press him and it didn't work. Jarrod breaks the press and makes a long pass to Julius Mays for three. Cats go up 28-18. Polson had 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in the first half.

Kyle with another three, he led everyone with 11 at the half as UK takes a 31-20 lead.

Nerlens continues to be a monster protecting the bucket. 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 blocks at the half.

Alex Poythress has 6 points and 4 rebounds.

Archie Goodwin is off from the field hitting only 1 of 6 for two points, but he has 5 rebounds.

UK is shooting 48%.

Alabama is hitting only 35%.

UK leads 33-24 at the half.

Alabama opens the second half on a 9-1 run. With 15:08 to go, Nerlens with a turnover trying to get the ball to Alex Poythress with the shot clocking winding down. UK's lead is down to 34-33.

Cats are getting next to nothing from Harrow and Goodwin tonight. At this point they are 2-for-13 combined for 4 points.

After Alabama takes the lead 35-34, Nerlens makes one of the biggest plays of the game. His block starts the break, Wiltjer gets it to Harrow whose layup is UK's first bucket in 11:30. Cats go up 38-35.

Less than 7 minutes to go when Archie Goodwin turns it over. At this point, UK is 2 of 15 from the field in the second half.

Archie Goodwin's drive at the end of the shot clock makes it 45-44 Alabama.

Nerlens left it on the court. First he follows Kyle's miss and slams it in to make it 49-48 Alabama. Then after he blocks a shot, Jacobs tips it in for Alabama and it's 51-48.

Kentucky has twice failed to locate and box out Alabama's Nick Jacobs in final three minutes. Both tip-ins hurt the Cats. Jacobs second follow makes it 53-50 Alabama. Jacobs finished with 14 points to lead Alabama.

With 26.7 second left it should have been UK's ball, but they gave it to Alabama.

Didn't matter. Alabama wins 59-55.

UK scores only 22 in the second half. For a while, it didn't look like they would score that many.

Julius Mays was 4 of 5 from downtown for 12 points.

Nerlens Noel finishes with 8 points, 7 blocks and 13 rebounds.

Archie Goodwin had a bad game hitting only 2 of 12 shots, and many seemed off balanced. He did grab 7 rebounds and finishes with 7 points.

Kyle Wiltjer led UK with 14 points. He also had 7 rebounds.

Ryan Harrow had a rough night with 6 points on 3 of 12 from the field. He had only 2 assists.

UK shot 39% from the field for the game, but only 30% in the second half.
