The Frankfort Panthers (10-1) destroyed Ludlow, 78-0 in the first round of the playoffs.
The Panthers are led by a quarterback that is eerily similar to a former Mr. Football and Kentucky quarterback.
Growing up Chris Hawkins was always among the biggest kids in his class. In fact, he took the 8th grade football team to a championship game when he was in 5th grade. As the years passed, Hawkins continued to grow.
"He's bigger than all but one on the starting line" teammate Jackson O'Daniel said.
The same was once said about one of the best Kentucky high school football players ever, Jared Lorenzen.
"When we played Danville [people] were saying get Jared Lorenzen," Hawkins said. "[Fans] call me 'Throw Boy' and 'Hefty Lefty'. People think it's criticism, but I like it."
"You hear people in the stands make comments," Head Coach Craig Foley stated. "Then [Chris] makes a few plays and they step back and say 'This kid can play', so it's not just a novelty."
Hawkins has more than 2,500 passing yards this season, which ranks him among the top 10 in the state.
The comparisons between Hawkins and Lorenzen won't end with the football season, either. Hawkins also plays basketball and baseball -- just like Lorenzen did.
